    Hey!

I just got an Asus n550jv and I am having trouble getting all the performance out of the card. I have been looking at notebookcheck.com at the 750m card and I seem to be 20-30% lower than their numbers.

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M - NotebookCheck.net Tech

Take Diablo 3 for example, at 1920x1080 att medium settings I get 40 FPS while notebookcheck reports 60 fps for the same resolution at ultra. When I track my GPU usage with Afterburner it is sitting around 65-70% though so I am using all my GPU, neither is my CPU with no single core going above 40%. I have set everything I can find to performance mode (Asus hybrid4Gear and in the nvidia control panel). Temps seem to be around 65-70 degrees for the GPU. The GPU core clock is at 1163 Mhz all the time.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Check your thermals and clock speeds on your CPU as well. Also check in Nvidia control panel that Diablo 3 is set to the 750m gpu and not the integrated, also check that those extra options are set to default (if you have shaders and stuff turned up in Nvidia control panel instead of/as well as in game can create conflicts and performance decreases) Those settings should only be turned up oh high end cards or for older games.

Notebookcheck benchmarks are not always the best to go off to be fair, try seeing what your 3dmark scores are like.

    Try benchmarks as meaker suggested.

I doubt it can do Diablo 3 at ultra and 60fps stable. My N56JR with GTX760M can barely do 60fps at ultra in d3, and that card is a lot stronger.

The thermals seemed to be a problem for CSGO, ThrottleStop gave me a nice boost in FPS and made the GPU work at 98-99% all the time. It did nothing to raise the GPU above 65% in Diablo 3 though. When you talk about shaders in the Nvidia Control Panel do you mean the "Shader Cache"? The only things that seem to be on seems to be the following and their settings

    Shader Cache = On
    Texture Filtering Quality = Quality
Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimisation = On
    Threaded Optimisation = Auto

The rest seems to be application controlled or off.

    I will try 3dmark then.

Thanks, now I know not to expect 60 fps at ultra at least! I guess I should get a bit more than I do though? Since the GPU is not working at more than 65%.

What's your per core cpu usage during Diablo 3?

The highest core is around 40%.

Check to make sure your power settings are on "High Performance" Its usually not set that way by default, and since its brand new it may just need that change.
