After months of looking for a notebook for Uni, ive only settled one thing, that it will be an Asus... :)
However with nearly all the models up to my requirements, with my budget at a maximum of HK$ 14,000 i have managed to shortlist the models...

    W3J
A6J (the one with the ATI X1600)
    A8J

I would have put the V6J on my list but it was too expensive...
I will be using it for CAD and possibly a bit of light gaming, which all these laptops will do....

The main question would be whether a 15.4" will be a better choice over the two 14" screens?

Man it's up to you, I can tell you that 14 is best and someone else will prefer 15,4. And whats then? You must decide yourself. If you will take it to school often - 14 will be better, if more DTR-style go for 15,4.

Ditto on the travelling, the 14" is the way to go....just so much easier on the shoulders!
Since budget is also tight my suggestion is the A8J....best bang for buck on the list and doesnt look to shabby either...albeit its no w3j

I would take a look around on the W3j and A8jm threads and read up on the cons and pros on both of these systems. Then base your decision off of that. But you really can't go wrong with an Asus. They are all great! ;)

oh~ don't forget that W3j also comes with a x1600. If you like x1600, just go for W3j, otherwise, go for Z96j for 15.4.
Your location is in HK, probably, you can get a best deal from the local dealer.

Toldo, I'm thinking of getting a w3j from HK. Do you know any good reseller? Friend of mine found one for HK$13880 (which seems a lot cheaper than Hornington that other people suggested).

    Thanks.

    Heya Dhon,

That's the cheapest ive seen in HK too, in Mong Kok's Computer Centre....Wise computers i think they're called, yup- for $13800...
But they also had an A8Jc for $9000....which doesn't feature a card as good as the W3J, but it's a good deal....

BTW, i havn't seen the Z96J before, could i get it in Hong Kong?
