Seeing as it's kind of an odd dimensioned machine, I've been having a hard time finding a tight fitting sleeve for the W3V. I'm planning on just popping the notebook in the sleeve and carrying it in my backpack, so I'm looking for something relatively simple but that still offers good protection.

    So far I've looked at sfbags.com, booqbags.com, and shinza.com...

I like the Vyper M a lot from booqbags but the dimensions are off by .75" on the width unfortunately so it will slide around a little. Maybe just get some black foam and glue it to either side? It seems to me that .75" wouldn't make much of a difference but when you're bouncing up and down with a backpack I figure the computer is going to be bouncing a lot too even if it's just .75".

The Sfbags.com sleeve comes in a lot of sizes but from the looks of the photos doesn't appear to be very heavy in the padding department. Anyone have any experiences with these who can prove me wrong or confirm this? Also the website claims that the sleeves come "in over 20 sizes" but that still doesn't tell me whether it's a tight fit or not.

The Shinza I looked into, because I'd heard good things about them on some forum or another (maybe this one). They look well padded but definitely not as stylish as the Vyper M, and it's also off dimension-wise.

    W3V Dimensions: 13 x 9.7 x 1.2-1.28"

    Booqbags Vyper M - Dimensions: 13.75 x 9.5 x 1.2" $39.95
    http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=96

    Shinza Zeroshock 15-inch - Dimensions: 13.0 x 10.2 x 1.8" $29.95
    http://shinza.com/product_info.php?cPath=5&products_id=46

Sfbags Sleevecase - Dimensions: Don't really know...anyone? is it a tight fit? $39
    http://www.sfbags.com/products/sleevecases/sleevecases.htm

Any help would be much appreciated folks!

The sfbags are superb. There's not a huge amount of padding, but it's enough to get the job done.

If you email the owner -- Gary -- with the W3V dimensions, he'll tell you what fits and how it fits. If he doesn't have anything that'll fit well, he'll also tell you that. It's a great company.

i'll tell you right now, i've done all the research and nothing out on the market is an exact fit. barong ordered a zeroshock which i am anxiously waiting to hear about. i've thought about the booq but i don't think it would fit inside the ASUS bag. i'm not even sure it'll even fit in my bookbag. money money money...

i won't consider a neoprene bag so it's really either the zeroshock or the book.

I dount anything will fit inside the ASUS bag -- it's a pretty snug fit around the W3. I ordered the zeroshock so I'd have some protection when I carry the W3 in a regular messenger bag, since the ASUS bag is just a tad too small to fit files, etc. into.

In any case, I'll post a review as soon as the sleeve comes in. [ :)]

All right, my zeroshock has arrived, and it does rock. Very soft and cushy -- it feels like one of those tempurpedic mattresses, except firmer. It is covered in a neoprene-like surface, which gives it some extra structure, and speaking of structure, the piping around the edges is actually wire-reinforced, so if you were thinking of crushing the thing down around your notebook for a closer fit, forget it. It does not fit into the case that came with the W3V -- it slides into the pocket, but sticks up about 2 inches out of the top, so you can't close the buckles. Not that that's an issue -- as corrid plans to do, I ordered this for when I don't want to carry the unit in the padded notebook case. The W3V fits perfectly width-wise; there's about 3/4 of an inch extra space at the top, but it doesn't really slip around too much, and even if it did, it wouldn't be a problem. The inside is nice a soft, so it won't scratch anything. There's also a little sleeve inside sized to hold a PCMCIA card (I keep a thumb drive in it).

Because of the wire reinforcing, the zeroshock won't compress, and it also won't stretch at all, either. The extra height is just enough
to fit the power brick and cord if you want all the necessities in one package, but that does make for a *really* tight fit. There's enough extra thickness that you could fit a couple CDs or a thin book in there, too.

From what I can tell of the booqbags viper just from their website, the zeroshock seems a little slimmer and lighter.

I'm very happy with the zeroshock, but it does need a pretty big bag to fit it into (I use a messenger bag, which is plenty big enough), and since there's no carry handle, you'll probably want it in a bag.

Also be forewarned: I bought this for $28 on ebay from elecom warehouse (because several people here had mentioned problems dealing with shinza); they charged $6.95 for shipping and $2.00 for insurance. The package arrived with $1.42 of postage on it and no insurance. Not that it needs it, but you will be overcharged $7.50 on shipping, raising the price of the sleeve considerably. I'm very happy with it, but would have been even happier actually paying $30 instead of $40.

which booq sleeve do you think would fit the W3V best?

    W3V - 13 x 9.7 x 1.18-1.29

    Vyper XM - 12.7 x 10.2 x 1.35

    Vyper M - 13.75 x 9.5 x 1.2

i have a inner sleeve that fits perfectly. brand is SUMDEX. dunno if u guys can find it in US. i got it in Taiwan. but the guy above said he got a ZeroShock. where i bought mine i saw those as well but they don't have a size that fits the w3v perfectly. this SUMDEX one fits perfectly. it has similar protectoin like the zeroshock. memory foam like those mattress. not expensive either about $25 USD.

    http://www.sumdex.com/core/PUN-854.asp

u will not find one that fits more perfectly.

Following totaleuge link and looking at the dimension of the "perfect fit" sleeve, it looks like the Viper XM will give you a better fit.

well if anyone who actually has can prolly tell u about this Viper. i actually have the SUMDEX and im just simply sharing the fact that it is a 'perfect' fit. if ur using a bag which doesn't have a dedicated laptop compartment. it is perfect for u.

after i bought the sleeve i bought a backpack, Oakley Icon 2.0. which has padding inside for the laptop. its pretty nice and stylish for anyone looking to carrying their laptop around in style.

The Vyper XM seems to be the sleeve for me... but am still hesitant when it comes to those 0.3 inches shy on the sides of the sleeve.... still waiting.

How is the XM a better fit over the M? The M is perfect except for .75 on width. My thought was to just get some black foam and put a strip on each side of the notebook. That should keep it from sliding around.

    Corrid,

Looking at the dimensions you listed above:

    W3V Dimensions: 13(L) x 9.7(W) x 1.2-1.28(H)"

    Booqbags Vyper M - Dimensions: 13.75 x 9.5 x 1.2"

    Booqbags Vyper XM - Dimensions: 12.7 x 10.2 x 1.35"

That shows the M is 0.75" too long, 0.2" not wide enough, and 0.08" not tall enough.

Doesn't seem like much, but would rather the smaller snug fit of the XM....everything measures correctly except the 0.3" of length.

Anyone brave enough to try either one? I hope so... I may try the XM and let you guys know how it goes!

    Hy folks!!
I am new in the forum but enjoy so far for a long time the posts about the W3V. So it is time to give somthing in return.
I get mine about the middle of next month and shortly after that I will give the booq vyper M a chance.
Here back in Germany we can give each product a try and can send it back without reason in the first 2 weeks. So no problem with return[!!
The XM is not yet available but besides the M I also try the L.

So a bit of patience and we know what the M is like. [ :p]

    See you!!!

i've been thinking about the booq sleeve since Jan. if not earlier for whatever laptop i was going to buy (dell at the time)

since i got my w3v around May i've been thinking about the XM vs. M sleeve on my own, without knowing of this thread.

i don't remember which but either the xm or the m was out of stock for a long while.

now that i've come across this thread today, i think i'll be ordering a sleeve for my w3v as well...

    think gloves vs. glove liner...

the sleeve is not really a carrying device, more like a protector from dings/scratches...

generally laptop -> sleeve -> carry bag.

The XM is a pretty substantial looking sleeve. I am not a clumsy person and I just needed a thin layer to put around the laptop to prevent it from scratches mostly. I'm no concerned with dropping it. Anyone know of something that is more like a sleeve and less like a case with dimensions that will fit the W3V snug in all directions.

then go for the couple of other makers that are NOT booq...

interestingly, i see booq upped the prices of the sleeves after i ordered yesterday.... alot of money for a sleeve... idont care if it's a bit more 'sophisticated'...

shipping itself was 8 bucks, which is about 20% of the item!

Have you guys checked out the company, Acmemade?

I am seriously considering purchasing one of these after I get my W3V. The fit should be pretty decent.

Granted, I'm buying the sleeve mainly for the style.

anyway, here is the site. www.acmemade.com

Those are some nice bags.... not sure if they're something I'd carry around..... but certainly high end and something worthy of a W3v..... It's almost a shame the company used the what seems to be *generic* brand of ACME.. unless Acme now has some sheik / used to be cheap ... like von dutch or something?

Those Acme sleeves are nice, but very expensive. The designer ones are 150+.

Do you think they make bombs?

so...i'm starting to look for a sleeve for my W3V (loving it! :D) newayz, for now i'm just using that foamy-feeling plastic covering that came with the notebook for protection. hahha.... Anyways, I've been lookin around and i think the booq vyper is too costly. Basically I just need something to prevent it from scratches and stuff like that since I'm planning to just put the notebook in my backpack or messenger bag. Also, I'm nook for something that's NOT a super tight fit since I don't wanna take my laptop out in an unease manner..if u know what i mean (2 hand job to pull the thing out)

was wondering why ppl don't like neoprene...

I wanna know if there are any stores in Canada that I can actually go in and take a look. Also in Hong Kong since I'll be making a trip there very soon...
Aside from that, I also saw this and was wondering if it'll fit the W3V. The dimension looks similar to the booq vyper XM 'cept bigger in the 1 area of the dimension. They do have this list saying what notebook fits that sleeve and from the list of asus models, most of them are 12.1 inches notebook... anyways, take a look.

    http://www.ebags.com/gymspacific/as...ve_14/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=46848#

    Fabric: Neoprene
    Size: 12.25" x 12.75" x 1.25"
    Fits laptops: 12.7" x 12.2" x 1.35" Will my laptop fit?
    Linear inches: 26.25"

The Sumdex one looks a little small from the dimensions, doesn't it. Since I am also looking for a sleeve for my W3V, did anyone try this?:

Or does anyone have experiences with or opinions about this brand - shoreline?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I think on page 3 of this thread it says that the xm fits "perfectly". So I guess you should go for this one. Anyone a hint where to order it (i.e. where it is cheapest) - seems that there are not to many stores out there.
