    Hello again,

Once again I have another rookie Vista question, I have a U1F with Windows Vista Business (SP1) and when I go to start and press the power button the notebook just seems to sleep and doesn't turn off. Is this normal? It was doing this when I didn't have the SP installed too.

I checked in Control Panel -> Power Settings but I have the setting "When power button is pressed -> Shut Down" turned on

    Any ideas?

Im not sure what you can do other than a reinstallation...but you can always install a force shutdown software and set the timer to whatever time you wish it to shutdown.

Awsome Laptops, i dont think thats what Bwen wants... thats a forced restart, usually not a healthy thing to do in cases that arent as emergency.

Bwen try this, try setting the start menu to classic appearance and then click shutdown and select the shutdown option. See if that fixes it.

The shut down button you see on the start menu is actually the sleep button.....

You have to to click on the little arrow.

you actually have to set the "start menu power button" in the advance power settings. When you set the "power button" you're actually setting the physical button on the laptop itself.
