    Notebook dont come with XP disc?

    my bro got f3jp, and i realise it dont come with a xp disc?

    why is that?

    and what happens if i use sth else but then want to install xp again?

    also side q, my old comp came wif an xp disc, that comp died, can i use the disc to install xp on my new comp? or do i gotta activate it with Microsoft?

    Pretty much all notebooks nowadays have a 2 disc recovery disc, which is the OS disc. The main reason behind this is that it provides an easier 'reformat' where it recovers the OS/HD back to factory settings(which is how it is when you first recieved it).

    If you follow this link http://www.easydesksoftware.com/recovery.htm it details how to create an install disk from your recovery partition. I think most ASUS NBs have a partition that would allow you to do this.

    Your second question of the XP disc from your old machine is complicated. In general you can use any disc to reinstall windows with, however some PC manufacturers (like Dell) tweak them so you can't.
