Hey everyone, I was hoping if someone could let me know how I would go about removing the optical disc drive on an Asus M50SV. It's the first laptop I've owned and I kind of want to know what I'm doing before I get to work.
    Thanks in advance.

Why do you want to do it?

Usually it's as simple as taking off one or two screws on the bottom, and pulling it out. The screw(s) are marked with a CD icon.

Well the drive is defective (won't read/write CDs), so ASUS is asking me to mail them some forms, then they'll send me a new one, and i'll send them the defective one. I've removed 4 of the nearest screws and have pulled on it a bit with no success, not sure how rough i'm expected to be with it. None of them are marked with a CD icon btw.

Then it might be more complicated.

There is an M50 disassembly guide in the Info Booth, maybe you can use that to remove the ODD.
