Nope.. I use my W3J for work a lot, so when I measured the battery time.. I was typing while listening to music for 3:35 hours straight.

That was with brightness at 100%? I could understand maybe at 50%, but at 100%... does seem extraordinary. This was with Wifi and BT off, and hard drive spin-down enabled? Was optical drive in bay?

I'm sure some of you remember that a while back ppl found the Intel USB battery drain bug. The A8Jm has a webcam; the W3J does not. Could the bug be responsible for the battery life? THG reported a 14% drop w/o the patch, see Link.

I've installed the patch, but I haven't drained the battery since and I don't have 3/4 hours to spend typing on it (no Wifi @ my house either, so there's nothing for me to do on it)

    Just a thought

Thank you so VERY much! I have a Z96J and I have been trying to figure out why battery life is so much lower than S96J. I will try out the patch immediately!

Yes, I have the patch installed and the webcam disabled but I am doing a WiFi on low brightness test as we speak and it is looking like I will be getting 2:45 to 3:00 regardless.

If you turn Wifi off, You'll probably add about 20 minutes to that battery. I've heard some people report over 30, but I don't believe them. Maybe if your battery life was 4-5 hours, but not if you are getting 3 hours. I don't think Wifi consumes 1/6 power in a laptop.

Yeah I know, but I have no use for a computer that isn't connected to the internet, so battery life with WiFi off doesn't mean much to me.
