So, I'm in the market for a new cell phone, my Audiovox was pure ****.

I still have until December until my Bell contract ends, but after that, not sure if I want to continue. Bell doesn'tuse SIM cards though.

I can go Rogers/Fido/anything with SIM cards which could be a better deal for me(I don't use it often :p).

What about ASUS cell phones? Anyone know where to look for ones avaliable(In N.A. anyways). The ASUS Global site had a few: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=11

    Thanks :)

No, they're not here at all. I have some, but they're personal units and I'm not giving them up...... but Asus was considering ship them up to Canada because apparently people are more apt to buy a cell phone off a shelf in a store and register it... where people in the US honestly think cell phones are free. So, Canada will be the first to sell them, but don't wait on them because it was January of last year when I first got some demos and it was November of 2003 when I first inquired about them... and as of now - none of them have come here for retail... so interpret that timeline as you will.... but snails would get here faster from Taiwan than their cell products. :)

I like the looks of the p505... [IMG]

But since we can't get that here...give www.clubimate.com a try. You can purchase their phones through expansys.com. I have the SP3i and really like it.

I've had that p505 for about 14 months now..... the most kick ass ppc phone ever! Without going into detail of the thing too much.... there is 7 way calling......... you set up a virtual conference table and there are 6 seats... those seats fill with images you save with a name and number and appear at the table.... then you could have one giant conference call. I've never seen anything like that on any other phone..... and that's just one of the cool features. We could get enough business customers lined up to import the product on a large level and Asus couldn't interest Cingular in a device that cost so much......

... yea, is that a converted US price? Because I know I've got the only one in North America..... the unit was going to sell for $600 and it's still probably worth every dime..... but that price is not only low as an ebay price, but isn't going to include the import costs....... plus it's a year old model too.....

Justin, I've got an Asus P505 too in North America. Been using it for 9 months now. Overall it's a good phone. But I am having some trouble with getting a stable signal with it. I am sure it's the phone, not the carrier. With other phones on the same carrier, people can still use their phone while I can't. The response is sometimes quite laggy too.. Didn't like that. And the OS freezes once in a while. Other than that, I am happy with it since I have yet to see someone with the same phone as I have.

Well, you didn't buy it here in the US, I know that...... Either way it's unfortunate.... I have a new rom that I updated not too long ago.... I've had probably 9-10 since I got the phone.... all correct certain things. I beta tested the phone on Cingular's network for Asus and the issues you seem to have are prototype issues... or at least that's how I can describe. If you don't have the newest US rom, I can see you could have problems..

I know it may not come to the US anytime soon, but anyone got info on it or has one testing out?

It's not a cell phone, it's a VoIP phone only..... and I don't have one to test, but should shortly... production demos are expected before May.

... basically it's a messenger... a very nice one at that.. if you have accesss to wifi networks often, then you've got a place to make free calls....
