Interesting design, especially the sliding D-pad.

Looks a bit too similar to the Nokia Aeon concept:

Let's not forget where a good chuck of the "i___" stuff is made.... It's pretty out there, but certainly possible. Asus hasn't made many concepts over the years that have gotten to the stage of being shown to the public, that haven't made production.... There's stuff that doesn't make it to this market of course, but basically ALL concepts that we see end up in at least the Asian market... This will be an awesome device if they make it.

You know how Verizon rejected the iPhone because Apple wanted too much for it? That's the same reason Asus' phones haven't gotten picked up... The only reason Cingular picked them up was because Apple gave them an unheard of 5 year contract to make sure no one would would be able to sell them.... I think the RAZR was what... maybe a year and half... that was a LONG time.
I don't see it happening.... It doesn't mean I won't have one..... but I don't see them being widespread devices. The cost will no doubt be more than iPhone, and Asus would need to pump more into this than is in the iPhone in order to "compete"..... but it'll sell well in Asia... there may be some sort of non-compete issue with Apple though....

We'd be looking at $600-700 for something like this.... I could almost state that as a promise..... If Asus is the company that will produce the iPhone (and I'm only assuming based on the past)... perhaps, if some of the parts like the touchscreen and other things are shared.... Asus perhaps could make it cheaper based on the volume they'd do making similiar models for other companies.
Like I said, Apple never really reveals this stuff until after production starts and it's never "public knowledge", but if this is infact what's going on, there is a chance that Asus' Aura could very well make production and very well be similiarly priced with it's cousin. Now, the questions would be:
OSX vs WM5
Apple vs Microsoft
I'd tell you right off the bat, if this was similiar to the iPhone, we could bet on more features on a model that Asus would make, just to "compete"... What those would be would only be speculation at this point, so no need to assume any further.
When I get more information, I'll certainly let you know, that's for sure... Asus' phones have intrigued me for years and years now.... and I'm one of only a few in North America to actually have a p505 and p525..... -
I thought the M310 was pretty cool...but hot ****, that's nice. haha. But actually...I think that Nokia looks cooler =X
