Just thought this was a little odd...
    With the Asus g1s-a1
    8600m gt 256mb ddr3 turbocache (shared) 1.5gb

    3828 3DMarks (580/1160/780) High Temp 97
    3902 3DMarks (475/950/700) High Temp 97

The default settings gave me higher scores than oc'd however the temp was the same... was there an error on my end or just an oddity?

Different drivers will often produce different results. Try the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go first and go from there.
