I installed Windows XP Pro on my Asus G1 yesterday. I've been gaming with it today and have been VERY surprised at how nicely it performs. I maxxed out the settings in Half Life 2: Lost Coast and did a Video Stress Test and got 38fps. I've mostly been playing Flatout 2 at max settings. Awesome game!

Anyway, I've noticed some odd screen flickering when I'm at the desktop. When I re-installed WinXP Pro, I downloaded the official nVidia 93.71 drivers from their website and used the 93.71 INF from LaptopVideo2Go to install them.

I haven't noticed any odd behavior when gaming and the system performs VERY well. The flicker happens at random times and not very occasionally. But it's just a quick flicker that reminds me of scanline combing... happens for half a second and then goes away.

Think the drivers are what is causing it? Or something else?

could it be caused by your speakers or a cellphone? I dont have my laptop with me currently so cant remember if it is affected by a cellphone, but my crt screen certainly is and flickers once in a while if it's too close to it.

I've noticed it on both AC and battery.

Hmmm... I have a cell phone and didn't think about it causing interference. I'll turn my phone off and see if that resolves the flickering. Thanks.

Try disabling PowerMizer if you see it again, that's the standard solution for fixing flickering issues (I had a lot myself w/older drivers, but a different system)

    Go to the Setup screen.
Wait there for a good while (while your at it, change the page every 5-10 seconds). If you notice flickering again. The potential problems will be lowered down to these two :
1 - Faulty BIOS settings, flash to the lastest - or roll back to a common one.
2 - Hardware failure.I don't really remember what it was but I think it was related to the backlight charger or something.

LordFlux, I have noticed the same thing with mine on occasion. It has never happened when I'm playing a game or watch movies. It's only when I'm at the desktop. So your not the only one who's getting this.

I've noticed this on my G1 as well, so far it has only occurred while I'm at the desktop. It seemed to happen a lot more often when I had my external HD connected via USB w/ data transferring btw the two. Is it something to do with power supply? (I'm currently connected through AC adapter)

i have noticed this as well, it only happens at the desktop. It is quite quick and doesn't really annoy me. I've noticed it happens as well when i change my clock frequencies of the 3dcard. Maybe its just the card changing its clock for power management and cooling reasons?
