I am so excited about this laptop that I decided to create a thread for the count-down.

here are the specs of the A8JM so far:

    Intel T2x00 Duo Core
    14" WXGA Glossy
    DDR2-533
    Sata-hdd
    Nvidia MXM go7600 512Mb
    5x USB 2.0
    1x IEEE1394 (mini)
    Dual Layer +- DVD
    Wifi a/b/g & BT
    VGA+DVI output

Anyone has more specs or comments on how they cant wait for this laptop post here!

Yea, it's an awesome laptop, and it doesn't look like the A series neither - it's gonna be pretty awesome.

My only concern is that the barebones edition of the A8JM comes with that awesome MXM Go7600 512mb video card.

    :D

Just a little update....... the A8jm won't just be a Canadian model as I had suspected...... it will be a US ensemble as well. Asus is putting it as a "main steam" model with the W3j still being bar none their top of the line. As Danny said, they're in the same shipment as the W3j's.

Justin, so how much is the A8Jm? I want to know it because my friend is looking for a laptop and he is very interested in getting either A8Jm or W3J. Thanks.

I have it and the configuration around here some where.... let me know..... It's going to be cheaper than the W3j for sure, but I'm not sure if the configuration in terms of ram, hard drive, cpu and OS are all going to be the same....

Definitely looks like a great 14" machine...quite the ideal student notebook.
I'd still rather have the W3J though... just because it's sexier :)

They do make it with a true 512MB, so I suspect that's the case here.

I don't know what the linking policies are here w/ regards to pics and links (hopefully this is cool - if not please delete), but here's something I found after searching Google for "MXM go7600 512MB". It's benchmarks of the X1600 vs. go7600...of course, I don't know what other variables are in place.

Bottom line is that while all this sounds exciting, I'm not sure if it's needed or what the other draw backs in terms of heat or battery life.

Are the states going to get the a8f as well? Not everyone needs/wants a gpu.

^ Just perfectly reinforces the point that no one should get too excited/concerned/depressed/anxious...etc about a particular model until the specs have been finalized for your given region.

W3J still looks much better, heftier price.
    Might consider A8J though...

    @proportable

dude you just made my day. I am soo glad that the A8JM is coming to the states as an ensemble as well. Only hope that it doesnt go past a certain $$ level.

So since its coming as an ensemble, will it still be available as a built-on??

Also im getting the feeling that the A8JM is a WXGA LCD and not WXGA+??
    ah-well.. cant win them all.

Also it seems that the 7600go is out there in 256mb and 512mb options. its actually made by asus.

Well on the display of the ASUS show with CandaSYS's photos it says...
    W3J Industrial etc. etc.
    A8Jm Gamer's Notebook..

IMO, both are great for gaming, but if you are just looking for a game notebook, get the A8Jm no need to spend an extra $300+ for the W3J.

actually the A8JM is widescreen. the only issue i see is whether the LCD is WXGA(1280x768/1280x800) or WXGA+(1440x900)

My bad.. It was because of the camera on top that made it stretch out more and thus my thinking it was not widescreen...

    Are the weight the same?..

It's prob. the same exact screen as the W3j...

If it does have 512MB that's just plain crazy (I saw at least one site that says it does - not a US region one though)...and if it's priced under the W3j to boot, it will attract a healthy following.

At DJ's suggestion, I had a quick look around for local stockists of this beastie... seems we're seeing an Australian launch for this at the end of the month (April 30).

Every local dealer seems to think the display is WXGA only (1280x768).

Could you provide it please? I would really like to know the final specifications and price. There is just too much speculation around about which configuration is coming to NA market. It would be good to get some solid information from a reseller like you.

    Thanks

I've been trying to find information about the US version of this model, but haven't been very sucessful. As far as I understood, a configurable version of it will be released. Is this correct and if so does anyone know when it will come out?
