I checked the manual for my brand new W3V and it said that I would be invalidating my warranty if I installed RAM myself. Is this true, and is it okay to install an additional 512MB DDR2533 stick in the ram slot on the bottom of the laptop?

Yeah, go for it. If it screws up, they'll never know you tried to install something there anyways. It's hard to screw it up though- just make sure it's the same/compatible type of memory.

I actually spoke to someone who works for ASUS US... spoke face to face. He says that you can go ahead and install it, but if something goes wrong just take the ram out and they will not be able to tell. Basically he said, why would we give you an extra slot if we didnt want you to put anything in it?
