Hey, Scott!
I couldn't get those Omega 5.8 drivers to install on my Z70va. I'm waiting for Asus to release their version before trying again. -
I believe the ATI's CAT5.8 are already out. Just FYI. it's what i am running on my W3V.
-
I found a Z70 graphics driver on the Asus support site at:
http://support.asus.com.tw/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
The file is dated August 7, 2005. I dowloaded it but haven't tried installing, yet. -

I used the mobility modder on driverheaven to get the desktop ATi drivers on my X700. I had the omega 5.7's before that. I have not noticed a big difference between the two.
I'll post again if I see any difference in various games. -
I see that Driverheaven.net now offers the 5.9 Catalyst drivers for all ATI Mobility cards. Ithink I'll give that one a try.

I installed the 5.9 drivers and they're working very well. Get them at www.driverheaven.net.

have you tried the omega versions? did the new driver change 3dmark 03/05 scores?
-
The Omega version would not install for me. I spoke with my reseller, Rick at ISTNC, about it. He told me their tests showed the Omega drivers were not stable on the Z70va even after tweaking them enough to allow installation.
My 3DMark05 score for the original drivers included with my notebook were 2563 with no overclocking/tweaking. The score only jumped to 2600 with the 5.9 Catalyst drivers, so not much of an improvement from a 3DMark perspective. -

The Mobility Catalyst 5.9 drivers are avaliable on www.driverheaven.net, plus they have the Catalyst Control Panel!!
Works great, just installed them on my system. -
Yeah, I'm definitely diggin' that Catalyst control panel! It's a major improvement over the standard control panel.
-
Quick update: I ran 3DMark2005 after turning on my Z70va for the first time, this morning, and got a 2670 score with the 5.9 Catalyst driver. That's 107 points over the stock driver's score. Not huge, but worth mentioning.

107 points is a pretty impressive increase in a 3DMark score for a simple driver update.
Definitely worth mentioning.
I'll have to update my desktop (9800XT) to 5.9...see what my 3DMark score is then...it got about 3100 before @ stock. I'll post back when I run it again. -

man i can't seem to be able to find drivers that are stable/work for me...I tried the catalyst 5.9: unstable. omega locked up my system and i had to go in safe mode to uninstall them...now i'm trying the drivers that are on the asus website for the z70va...are these the same as the ones on the cd? anyways, as I've posted before i'm having trouble with call of duty 2 demo...anyone willing to download it and give it a try and tell me how it runs/crashes?
it is really intense! like playing a movie. (well the 2 times i got it to work without rebooting/freezing my system that is : )

Omegas never work for me. Go here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=18
You can download the 5.9 drivers, now. They worked fine on my notebook. I got a 3DMark05 score of 2670 with no overclocking. -

well i uninstalled everything that had to do with ati, omega, anything...downloaded the drivers from asus website and it seems to be running fine now...no crashes!

W2V & Omega 5.9 workin' without problems, though I haven't fully tested them because I don't have a lot of time, but I have to finish Farenheait so... as soon as I have a few minutes I'll try them and fnish this awsome game.
PS: I could never install Omega 5.8 on my W2V, I stil don't know why as they support X700
