Here's the narrative of my last two weeks:

When playing games on my Asus N50Vn it would start getting really hot and cause severe FPS drops, which I can only assume was throttling. I asked around what would fix it and tinkered with many settings and eventually gave compressed air a chance. I couldn't figure out how to get to the heatsink so I just sprayed through the vents. Needless to say, I was AMAZED at how much a difference ths made. My fan was silent and heat was no longer an issue.

This was the case for about 3 days. After that, up until about now I have had a lot of problems with fan noise. I have checked the temperatures of my system and they all seem to be running at a normal temps of about 35-40C at all times. However, I notice my fan is no longer running silent as it did, and tends to go back to the same old OVERDRIVE mode that is really loud and unnecessary. I monitored CPU usage and there is literally no increase (sits at about 2-4%) but the fan will just start running faster and louder.

I have cleaned the fan, the vents and replaced the thermal glue. I ran virus/malware scans. What is the cause of this fan noise? How do I fix it? I am literally at the brink of insanity.

What could possible happen after those 3 days to make the fan start running loud again?

    Anyone? :(

Just a guess here, but I think you're supposed to spray the compressed air from the interior of the chassis outside through the vents, not the other way around, maybe you ended up forming a big dust ball further along the heatsinks which is now getting pulled back into the way again. When you say you cleaned the fan and vents do you mean you've since opened it and sprayed the compressed air in the right direction?

Felix is prob correct. The dust should be moved out.

It's like pushing an arterial thrombus back into the vein, and allowing it to flow through the bloodstream into the heart again instead of just taking it out like you should have.

    Motorcycle analogy please.

LOL, you made me laugh so HARD!

It sounds to me like you have some cooling issues for sure. It may, at this point anyways, need to be taken apart :(

Fan come lose from magnet because too much air pressure and spinning wrong way too fast ...
Dust went inside the fan (and now not enough oil to run smooth) ...
    Wire touching the fan ...

.. just stopping to write now because reading the main post made me lol at many point.

If your air filter is dirty, you clean or replace it. You don't flip it over.
