First off I apologize for asking a question that has already been asked but, I still can't seem to find a definite answer to my particular question. Here's my situation... I'm going to be moving and need to be out of my current address by Oct. 1st.

I would like to purchase a C90 but I can't have the place I buy it from take a month to ship it. On the other hand, I'd rather wait the month to order from a quality company that will stand by what they sell if I should run into one of the common problems with the C90. I can have the notebook shipped to my old man's house if need be.

So out of all the retailers you guys have dealt with:

    1. Who has these in stock and ready to ship?
    2. Who stands behind what they sell if I end up with a bad C90?
    3. Who can ship this out as quickly as possible?
    4. Who tests these before they ship?

I really would like to order from Gentech. Their site and everything I have heard about their service has been top notch thus far. However, last I heard they were taking about 25-30 days on average to ship. Is this still the case?

Any help is appreciated guys, thanks!

PS: Without getting into a flame war, BTOTech is not a company I would like to do business with.

Just email all the dealers and ask them if they have stock.

As for the questions, if the C90s is bad, your dealer is the one you will talk to for a replacement/repair.

The dealer often does the testing beforehand, unless you buy the barebones by iteself.

Wow, that's probably the quickest reply I've ever seen, Thanks for the the help!

Mostly I'm concerned with getting a C90 from one of the dealer's that promises to ship it quick, but does barely any testing. This is why I was leaning heavily towards Gentech. Their wait is kind of long, but if they are assuring me that I'm getting a "mostly" problem free C90, it seem's like the way to go.

I'll give them a call tomorrow morning, but until then, does anyone know if they are still taking 25-30 days to ship?

I configured my C90 on gentechpc.com with CPU, HDD, and no OS and mine was shipped in a week.

Circuit City is not going to stand behind their product like a small vendor is. Especially with regard to RAM issues if you wish to upgrade. Plus the Velocity Micro (rebrand) comes configured at 2.4ghz w/ 2gb and a 160gb 5400rpm drive, you are not given any configuration options.

I wasn't aware CircuitCity was selling the C90 under a different name. However, I tend to agree with crxluv2 on not being able to configure it my own way and the ram issues. On top of that, I'd get hit with a pretty hefty tax charge and the closest store that carries it is 70 miles away.

    CRXLUV2,

When did you configure your system? If you did it recently and it only took a week to have it shipped then I'll go ahead and put my order through as well. Do you have it in your hands now lol?

    Thanks again.

I configured on the 12th (Sunday) and the unit was shipped on the 22nd.

Per Ken @ Gentechpc the RAM is tested before the unit is sent out.

Do yourself a favor and talk to Ken or someone there before you order to verify shipping ETA. They claim 2-week turnaround on the shopping cart page, but I got mine sooner.

And it is indeed in my hands now, the envy of all :p

Well I called GenTech today and was told that the hold ups with the C90 are over and they should be able to ship it out by the end of the week. I felt the most confident with GenTech, so I pulled the trigger on a $1800 setup!

I'll keep everyone posted on how long it takes to receive my C90 from them in case anyone else is wondering.

btotech shipped the next day for me, had it 2 days after ordering - (overnight shipping)

and circuit city also has a 2.66ghz option, if i wanted it now to make sure, i would order from circuit city as they will ship it immediately. if they let you order it online, then they have it in stock, as for other dealers, anything can change.

but although there hasnt been any reports of the circuit city velocity micro ever having any problems - it will indeed be harder to get it as quickly if there are problems over gentech or btotech

How was yours a "better deal" ? I got a faster CPU, 100 gig 7200 RPM Seagate HDD, 3 GB ram, and Vista 64 bit for $1799. After sales tax, which you probably had to pay, you ended up paying about $1695 if I calculated correctly. Hardly a better deal in my opinion. Comments such as yours really are not needed.

I think what he was saying is that he got his system for less than what a comparable configuration from some of the other sites. I did some quick comparisons a while back, and at that time indentical configurations of the base model listed at Circuit City (and Velocity Micro) was cheaper than many of the popular sites mentioned around here. If you calculations were correct (sales tax, if and how much, would depend on where he lives) he ended up spending $200 less on a system than you did (granted your specs are a bit stronger). Plus if he took advantage of the offer he was also able to get a free printer, free router, and free software security suite while saving another three cents on the price of the system. :p

Oh, well if that's what he meant then my fault. However, the way it was worded came off as an insult to me. Maybe I just took it the wrong way. Anyway, you're right I was basing sales tax on my state which is 6 percent. But that would still only put him at $105 cheaper for a system that isn't built to the same specs. The printer deal is nice, but not needed for me. Either way, they are both great deals no matter how you look at it.

Got it today! Barely had a chance to check it out but I am typing from my new C90 as we speak. Quick question though.. What kind of wifi card does the C90 use? I had an extra mini-pci card that I was going to use but I didn't see a mini pci slot when I was doing the install. Can someone help me out with this?

Also does anyone know where I can find the card I need in a retail store? I'd hate to not have wireless for a whole week : /

I'll be giving GenTech a call Monday due to other issues, so I'll go ahead and order the wifi card from them as well.
