I'm going to get a gaming notebook and the Asus G51 is one of those on my list and I would like to get some info and advices about it.

Is it very flashy that it would catch the eye of the stealers a lot?

    Does it have any issues?

    How's the company's service?

YES ITS FLASHY. lol if i didnt own one and i was frequent stealer, this would be like my top priority cuz its so dam amazing. in my skool, luckily its so preppy and ppl here are good boys (...not 1 incident of stealing in last 4 yrs of skool...) i can walk around safely with this laptop, put it on a desk, go to assembly and expect it to be where it is. ofc. i put it in my locker tho, but you get hte point. this laptop, just for sheer beauty will distract a lot of ppl. the reseller with blue led/ glossy black lid are sexy enuf to be stolen within first day of skool/college/watever depending on the community.

Are frequent stealers like frequent flyers? Do they get miles?

The heat issues are perhaps the most prominent. And they're not really "solved". These things still get pretty damned hot.

So the only issues I'll have with it are the stealers and the heating. :D

The side vent is coming in mighty useful right now. It's freezing in Chicago and my hands get cold fast so I use the heated vent air as a quick thaw.

Not bad actually, it maxes out at 70C during load. But I think that only pertains to a specific portion of the system. The HDD's never go above 43C or so and the CPU idles in the 30s.

Like it's been said, ambient plays a huge part in temperatures.

And it's getting colder in my area. Yay.
