I have a brand new Asus X50SL laptop. Both speakers work fine for system sounds, for Windows Media player, start-up chimes, error beeps, in the sound control panel setup page, etc.. But when I use iTunes, only the left speaker works. I can't tell if the right speaker is failing but it does sound as if the MP3 is playing as a mono track from only one speaker.

    Any ideas?

Does it happen no matter what mp3 file you play in itunes?

Actually the problem seems to have corrected itself. Maybe the computer just needed to be restarted after I installed iTunes. Stereo speakers work now.

It was the newest version of iTunes by the way and I tried various formats ie mp4s, locked mp4s bought from iTunes store, a track imported from a CD, mp3, etc.
