    Hey everyone,

Im interested in opening up my LCD screen on my W3J to fix a problem with the inverter cable. Is there a guide anywhere or has anyone done this before?

    Thanks!

I did it before for my M6BNe, see here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=197630

It's not an easy task, but it can be done with a little patience.

80 dollars is an outrageous price for an inverter cable. You should check ASUS eStore, and/or one of the resellers listed in the Info Booth. An inverter cable is around 10 dollars, and the inverter itself around 20. As long as you take the notebook apart, I suggest changing the inverter as well.

Thanks, I just ordered the inverter with the cable as well. (from estore and it cost 20 dollars total) Now I'm going to wait till it comes and open up the LCD. I saw the guide for the M series disassembly. Do you if the LCD part is the same? I haven't really seen any guides on opening ASUS LCDs other than that one.

I suspect it's not the same. It should go along similar lines, however...
Note that there are several disassembly guides listed on the Info Booth that include complete LCD disassembly. So you have several models to choose from.

I think he already got the inverter from ASUS eStore.
