    Ok..

I think I have decided on the V1Jp..

It has been a long search and when I finally did a 5way comparison I feel that the V1 gives me the most of what I'm looking for w/o sacrificing anything too major..

I compared the performance scores, weight, size, and features.

    G1
    V1Jp
    A8Js
    nc8430
    xps m1210

I know some of these systems are pretty different..

What it comes down to is the model sub suffix..
Correct me if I'm wrong but..

    ASUS V1JP-AK023E
    Vista Business
    Lightscribe

    Asus V1JP-AK006P
    Xp Pro
    No Lightscribe

    Are these the only differences?
Which would you prefer if you could have either?
Is Vista Business better than Home Premium? I wouldn't really use media center anyway in anything that Windows Media itself wouldn't provide.

Looking like the last of the XP models are on the way out the door and Vista models are about $200 more..
And are the Vista models even in stock yet?

    I'm leaning XP..
    I know XP.. I semi-trust XP etc..

They're the same price at Newegg, and most "boutique" (i.e. MilestonePC, ProPortable) only have the Vista model in stock now. I'd take Vista for the sake of having the newest software, and also because it has 1GBx1 instead of 512MBx2 for the RAM.

Vista Business is really nice, I'm not a huge fan of Home Premium at the moment, but either can be upgraded to Ultimate for a nominal fee right from the control panel.

The XP model, if you can still get it had it's price dropped a few weeks ago, once Vista came out, we really didn't feel a need to keep bringing in XP models unless of course they dropped the price a ton more than they did. The light scribe drive is something others are huge fans of, but I know I'd never use..... Basically, they're the same model, but if you're looking for something that will hold it's value longer, it would be the newest version. Vista does work just fine and all of the drivers are updated in the box....
