Just wondering what the benefits of getting the optical drive battery instead of a 2nd 8 cell for the Asus are? I mean the 8 cell will last longer, and costs the same as the one that fits in the optical drive and if you charge 2 batteries you can have longer life and still use the CD Drive. Does it weight that much more, or should I just get two 8 cells?

    Thanks

The advantage of using the secondary battery is that you have continuous power. If you just buy a spare primary battery, you have to shut off the machine when one runs down, so you can swap in the spare. Or you have to plug in to AC while you swap.

I got the optical drive battery for my M6
it's very useful, the 8 cell is significantly heavier than the optical bay battery, so sometimes I take out the 8 cell and put in the optical bay battery when I know I wont' be using the cd drive, bring my power brick along and plug in
    it gives you more choices
