i am thinking of buying a :asus: z70va barebone notebook, and installing all parts myself.
I have checked and know that i can install my own hard drive, processor, memory, wi-fi card, etc.
but am not sure if i can put in my own optical drive.
does the optical drive have a special bezel/plate in the front or any regular drive can be installed?
if it has a different bezel, is it possible to get only the bezel online?
and one more thing, are the atheros and other brand wi-fi cards compatible, or is it limited to :centrino: intel only??
    thank you

STF (search the forum) or STFAQ (search the frequently asked questions) ...... this is a question that's asked everyday and if you want an intelligent answer, you should look at those posted previously.

The short answer is that it could be a lot of work... there is a thread that was started just the other day... so the posts aren't that far back...

installing your own optical drive is probably more trouble/expensive than it's worth

That is very true, you might as well get the standard/recommended optical drive for that unit. At least it'll be installed you wouldnt have to go find the pieces you need to make it fit. Also the bezel will come with it. Usually the cheaper route may be the more expensive/troublesome route.

Also, where it says tweezer in the assembling guide, they meant "Swipe ur credit card". You'll know what i mean once you figure how that works. :p
