G51J-SZ028V is the 3D version said to release end of Nov. 2009. I just ordered a G51J-A1 but I have till December to recall it and wait for this item to release.

    1) Is it confirmed Nov. 2009?
    2) How much do you estimate the cost?

It is special edition. My guess is it will run $100.00 more than G51J. Thoughts please.

just keep your order. I think lcd 120hz is overrated and I, for one, don't want to wear those silly glasses while gaming.

I don't think you HAVE to wear the glasses. It seems to be just an option.

You have to wear the glasses to get 3D, but you can use it as a regular display without them. But I expect a 120HZ display is going to add a lot to the cost.

I'd expect the G51J3D will be much more expensive. The entire selling point of the G51J-A1 was the best bang for the buck, so I suggest you go for the G51J-A1 while some stores still have them in stock, cause I don't think ASUS is producing them anymore.

Other than the fact that almost every store out there in Canada is now out of stock and not restocking like Newegg.ca which tagged it as a "Deactivated Item" it would be safe to assume this was a limited release.

I think they weren't prepared for such a high demand. The 3D version may be rather expensive now that I think of it. Considering it will be one of the few first 3D laptops. Would have been awesome to play a game in 3D, but I am not paying a crap ton more for it either. I will just put in a Nvidia in my desktop if i want 3D that bad.

Deactivated Item on newegg doesn't necessarily mean that it's not going to be made anymore. The G51vx's were constantly switching to being placed as a "deactivated item" when they would temporarily run out of stock. When they received more in, they would place them back on the page so they can be purchased.

What a year in gaming laptops! If they did discontinue the g51j, i wonder whats next!

Why is the g51vx-a1 more expensive then the g51j.

Because the previous Quad's are actually two Core 2 Duo chips stamped as one. I actually went to a store that was selling their last G51Vx-A1 at the same price as the G51J-A1.
