Hi everyone, I was in the que to obtain a W3j however, I cancelled the order based on my need to do lots of photo editing. Several of you correctly pointed out that the presence of the DVI out on the A8jm would be a big plus due to my ability to hook directly to my 24inch flat panel. I do little gaming but I need the graphics card to handle lots of 100-200 mb files I am building in photoshop. What intrigued my about Portable ones' MX is they are offering the bluetooth as a standard option. I love my BT mouse and I also sync with my phone and a logitech presenter device via BT communicatons, thus I was not willing to part with these just to obtain the DVI port and have to use a BT usb dongle. I hate those sticking out of my machine. Anyway the order is in and hopefully the machine will be back for a review in about a week. I want to say thanks to those of you who have pioneered the A8jm technical glitches and are so prompt to post your solutions. I will do so as well, the strength of any forum is how we help each other out, and this one is doing great.

On Portable One's website, does anyone know what the "Transflective UVA Display" option is? It's one of the display options that you can have customized/upgraded (for $399).

in general, notebooks cannot be used outside b/c the sunlight obscures the lcd. the transreflective display lets images appear clearly outside.

Cool! Would love to hear how you like it. I understand P1 is a great company, I bet you won't be disappointed. I'm pretty interested in that machine with the Transflexive display (even though it's pricey).

Btw, my understanding is that it's basically the same technology that you get with a Thinkpad that has a "FlexView" screen. So if anyone is curious about the special P1 screen you could search the Thinkpad forums for how much people like their FlexViews. In general it sounds like people like them a lot. That said, the "normal" screen for them is probably not nearly as nice as the "normal" screen on the Asus/P1, so for them it's even more of an upgrade and thus they may be more ecstatic about the choice.

so without the transflective display is it a regular matte screen or a regular glossy screen?

Are you sure about this? I thought IBM used the term flexview for IPS screens and transflective screens use a different technology. Mainly IPS enables wider viewing angles and transflective tech. allows incoming light to assist in viewing the screen, making it more evenly lit and brighter to boot. (I'm no expert tho, just trying to figure it out myself)
