    Hey I just bought an Asus W5f. Check it out!!
    Once I get the laptop, are there any things that I really need to do?

    or softwares I should install?

    You can uninstall any software that you know is junk, or you will not use. If you only have trial versions of antivirus and firewall programs, uninstall them and get full licensed versions. If you would like to use free antivirus software, use either Avast or AVG. Free firewall programs that are good, include Sygate Personal Firewall, Kerio and ZoneLabs.

    Of course, you should also create recovery CDs/DVDs to use as backup. That would be the first thing to do.
