Going to throw this is my G51 and overclock it to 3.0ghz. Anything i should know about before purchasing?
-
My only suggestion is to not get an ES CPU.
-
Thank you, i was just going to order it from newegg so i asume i won't get an ES cpu. My main goal is to see 3ghz would be nice if i could sit around 3.2 stable. Looks like ill be getting the extended battery for sure.
-
I think 3GHz is a very reasonable OC for the T9600. I recently sold a T9600 to ClutchX2 and he was able to OC it to 3.3GHz on his G50Vt.
-
Nice! Well i went ahead and ordered it along with some as5!
-
Hope to see you get that OC'd! I just ordered a T9800 myself for my G51. Looks like we'll be voiding our warranties together lol

Me three. Though yours will definitely work while mine will almost definitely won't.
-
Whats a warranty LOL.
Mine should be in 2marrow. Overnight shipping to bad im a moron and forgot to change it to be sent to my work address
Aw well hopefully they will take a signed note and leave at my front door. I live in a pretty safe area.
Took the notebook apart today, seems pretty easy to swap them out. Hitting 3ghz should be a breeze. 3.2 im a little worried about. Not sure how well the t9600 overclocks but im sure ill find the ceiling on this chip pretty fast. Thankfully Amazon has a 30day return policy so if i dont hit 3ghz ill send it back LOL. Will be nice to see what this video card is capable off since the stock proc. is for sure the bottleneck on the BB G51. Goodluck with the T9800 look forward to your results! -
It should be relatively easy to get it to 3.0, you should be ok, enjoy it!Last edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015

Why not T9900? Prices should be very similar (assuming that you have purchased it from ebay).

If a T9900 is similar in price to a Newegg (OEM) P9600 isn't either going to be used or an ES, probably the latter.
"My only suggestion is to not get an ES CPU." -
When you think about it i rather be running at t9600 overclocked to a t9900 not overclocked. Since the RAM and FSB is oc'ed as well the t9600 will out perform the t9900 at stock clocks.
-
is the warranty sticker on the cpu or w.e the kind if you peel off half of it stays attached?
-
I bought mine for a little under $300 used, but at least I know it is not an ES model! A new T9900 was a little pricey, maybe if Forge can get his QX9300 working, I will have to invest in one of those!
I just hope these babies support quad-cores!
-
So why not an ES? Whats so bad about those chips? I mean multipliers are unlocked which is good but what else is bad about them?
-
They COULD be slightly different than the final OEM version.
-
Should be coming anytime now. Got out of work early. Laptop is apart and ready to go.
-
Installed... Benchmarking... pics and stuff to come later on tonight or 2marrow.
-
sounds good, im benching stock right now. going to try and do a good review.
-
great i cant wait to see the results!
-
Can someone tell me what is the difference between a normal CPU and a engineering sample?
-
Here's my response to another person's question, but it should also answer your question too

No such luck, at least right now.
But since the A1 will support quads, it's only a matter of a BIOS update. -
where is the bm!
-
What is bm?
-
benchmarks
-
Any specific ones you want me to run?
I got a 3d06 benchmark, free version though so i can change the reso. -
thats good enough 4 me!
