I think there are like 3 14'' Asus laptops that offer this graphic card also the, C90 can be configured with the 8600GT too. There are many models you just need to check and research a little more.

    Nope.

The F8sv has the 8600GT but has not been released, but we all assume its the DDR2.

Oh, and you mean the GDDR3, DDR3 doesn't exist ;)

As I mentioned, only the G1s/G2s has the GDDR3 version, nothing else as far as we know.

if only asus would offer the nvidia quadro 570m on their v-series business lines, like lenovo does, then you'd get something that's probably close to a 8600 gt gdd3 (because the 570 does use gddr3). i mean, 3700+ 3dmark06 on a business card? that thing rocks.

....but nope...they stuck an 8600 gt with ddr2 or a gs model for the v series...

I question the difference of GDDR3, although I like faster and yadda yadda, it doesn't seem to bring in any sort of a real difference in 3dmark. Think it'll be 1 more generation of video cards (9x) before GDDR3 is more prominent in lappies.

    no difference?

    A DDR2 8600 scores 1000 in SM2_0 and 1400 in SM3_0. A GDDR3 cores 1600/1800.

In games, the GDDR3 is about 30% faster in resolution like 1680x1050 or 1440x900

There is no DDR3 for notebooks either, so while we know that DDR3 is out for desktop P35 boards, it really isn't relevant under the current context of the discussion.

And yes, only the notebooks with the 8600GT GDDR3 are the G1S, G2S, and MBP. Anything with a Quadro 570M will have the same GPU, with different drivers.

I'm also looking for a laptop other than ASUS that has GDDR3 8600GT. I don't know much about the quadro series. What do you meanby "GDDR3 8600GT or equiv"? Do they score the same and are equally good for gaming?

The Quadro cards are just better tested and more fully featured Geforce cards (same or better hardware), which are suitable for more OpenGL professional workstation applications. However with gaming Geforce drivers they perform the same as their Geforce equivalents (in this case the Quadro FX 570m = the Geforce 8600M-GT.)

You can add FSC Celsius H250 (quadro 570m 256) to the list. I am really considering this one but I am not sure if Fujitsu-Siemens laptops are reliable enough.
