Hi Guys, I used to use Microsoft outlook for my emails, but when I started using it with my new G1 it started to give me this following error:

Chkol has stopped working, a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I receive a lot of this message, and when i press the close button, new one pops up. I keep pressing about 50-60 times until it stops popping up. then I can read my email. it really annoying.

I'm using windows Vista Ultimate and Microsoft Outlook in all my computers, only the Asus G1 has this problem... I formated and re-installed vista but same error.

May be because of the programs came with asus (chkmail, Direct console, ATK...)

anyone has the same problem? any help?

Sounds like a chkmail problem. You might try uninstalling/reinstalling that to see if that corrects your problem.

I have the same problem, I have uninstalled and reinstalled chkmail, its not it. Its the direct console. I switched to regular text instead of the time to see if anything happens, and what comes up when my outlook checks for mail is a box that asks me for access to outlook for a certain period of time, when I accept, the OLED displays my email header.

I found out that the problem from Direct Console too, when I disable it I recieve NO ERRORS.

would you please tell me what did you do to make it work? I tried to switch to text instead of the time, and turned off the lights on the side, but same error happened.

About the problem that asks you for access to outlook for a certain period of time, this link will solve it http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/security/

I called Asus technical support and they are aware of this problem, they told me a new version of Direct Console around the corner, they didn't post it yet on their website but should be soon.

Disclaimer - I have not used Outlook 2007 but assuming this may solve the problem for direct messenger access to it.

Refer to this MSDN article http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms778202.aspx and it may help you setup access for direct messenger. A word of warning though as it appears it is an all or none selection and could expose Outlook to nefarious code.

Disclaimer: This worked for me, no guarantees... set the program to run as an administrator in the Compatibility tab for Chkol.exe properties.

Find Chkol.exe in explorer, right click and choose 'Properties', go to the Compatibility tab, on the bottom of the tab check the box to 'Run as an administrator'. Save the changes.

Open TaskManager and kill any running Chkol.exe processes.

Wow, no more popups - been working for about a day so far.

I have solved the problem by renamin chkol.exe to chkol.mmm (instead of moving the file), found C:\Program Files\ASUS\Asus Direct Console\
