Hi, I am trying to do some research before I make my purchase and I have a few major questions about this unit.
1. I know there are cooling issues with this unit, what temps are usually running under stress and Idle. w/ and w/out Zalman 1000/2000 cooling pad.
2. I know that the GTX 260 in the unit is slightly underclocked, I was wondering if anyone has been successful in returning it to normal clocks.
3. Having the asked the last question, I am wondering if anyone has been successful in overclocking the gpu.
Yes yes, I know heat not recomended blah blah blah, but what it comes down to is that the laptop wont be in use for more that a year or two at the very most, a cooling pad will be used. Damages caused by it be damned I just want to know if it can be done.

The G51J uses the same GTX260M as all of the other Asuses, so you can see people's results for the G51, G60, and G71/G72. My overclocks are in my sig, but since you are running an i7 G51, I don't think you'll be able to go as high as your CPU runs hot.
Stock - 500 Core, 1250 Shader, 800memory
Mine runs @ - 20% Overclock on the Core, 25% Overclock on the Memory, 28% overclock on the Shaders. "True" GTX 260M clocks are 550/1375/950 though, so my overclocks are not that high. -
