    Hi guys,
I just recently got a new laptop, and I really like it. I have always heard a lot about over clocking computers too, but am really new to it. I read some other threads about it, and downloaded the over clock program that works with Nvidia. My question is what should I set it to? It has the 9650m gt graphics card. Has anyone over clocked this computer before? Thanks.

I have the n80vn, which is basically the same computer with a different chassis. When you say the overclock program that works with Nvidia, I am assuming you mean nTune. Stock clocks are 550 core / 400 memory and I have been testing at 629 core / 474 memory and I have not had any issues as of yet. I set the rules to load the overclock profile when starting a game and to load the default profile when quitting. That also has gone off without a hitch.

every card that comes off the fab is different. only you can find the max clocks for it.

I don't have nTune but it is similar...it is just in the Nvidia Control panel. You can raise your clocking speeds in there. Basically, would I notice a difference if I overclock it?

of course. the performance in 3d would probably be a little less than the % the clocks were raised.

nTune, Nvidia control panel, they're both the same program. I've overclocked my N50Vn-A1B to this:
    http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/wmb9/

It's the highest OC I've gotten that's stable (using 185.20 drivers). It'll be different for you. It might be less or more than mine.

The overclock makes quite a bit of a difference. Without the OC, I get around 40FPS in CoD4. With the OC, I get closer to 65.

Sweet! I will have to do this...now I watched a youtube video about this, and is there anyway to test to see if the over clock works?
