Hello. Is it possible to overclock the CPU (but not the nvidia video chip)?

    I've the stock P8400 and 4GB of DDR2-800 (CL6) RAM.

There's nothing in the BIOS that allows overclocking, and I know upping the FSB from 1066 to 1333 would allow a terrific performance boost.

    Thx much!

    Thanks!

I ran it; when I up the FSB clock, the RAM speed goes up with it. That is not the case for my desktop rig (running an Asus P5Q Deluxe). Am I missing a parameter or is that just how SetFSB works and I shouldn't raise the FSB too much?

Thank you for your information and tolerance; I just don't want to blow up my system (not likely, but still). :)

Setfsb just ups the front side bus speed, so the RAM, being based on that, will also be overclocked.
With my P8400 (2.26ghz) I hit the limit at 3.00ghz when the RAM is running at 1350mhz which I suspect may be limiting factor.

Unfortunately 800mhz is currently the fastest DDR2 laptop RAM you can get...

    Good luck.

    Thx for the info.

Can I presume the X1 is not compatible with DDR3? :(

Has a proper setFBS code with no adverse side effects been found yet? The ones I tried previously overclocked the PCI-E bus, which caused havoc on my system.

I could use it, as I need clock speed for some emulation I'm trying to do..

On my T9400, when I overclock slightly over 2.53Ghz my games flicker on and off, making them unplayable. Am I missing something here?
Whats the best PLL to use?

How'd you get that high? My P8400 becomes unstable on Prime95 at 2.7Ghz

That is correct. DDR2 and DDR3 have different connectors, and the X1 only has DDR2 slots, even though the chipset can handle both types.
