Hi, folks. I was wondering if anyone had any success with the ATI Tool for overclocking the graphics on the Z70V. I was afraid to use it when my friend fried up his HP with that tool. So... any success stories? on the Z70V? Thanks.

I do it and it works fine. I would suggest not overclocking it too much. I just do it for a little extra boost when I play games. I then return it to default right away. I haven't had any problems.

sorry if this is a little off topic, but doesn anyone know what an x600 is equivalent to? Is it as powerful as a Radeon 9600 or 9800?

Anyone care to post some X600 3DMark05 benchmark on this Z70v?

    Stocked and overclocked?

Geared2Play claimed to get these numbers on their review of the system.

    3dMark03 @ 471/315 = 3870
    3dMark03 @ 489/330 = 4011
    3dmark03 @ 520/370= 4289
    3dMark05 @ 471/315 =
    3dMark05 @ 489/330 = 1292
    3dmark05 @ 520/370 = 1380

Hmm that is pretty sad compared with GO 6600. I guess I'll wait for the refresh to replace the chassis on mine.

Everyone tries to knock the Z70V's x600, but come on, that Go video isn't in the same class. I can just say that those numbers are OUTSTANDING compared to basic shared video.
Going back to topic- I know this isnt the fastest or strongest card compared to the top-of-the-line card out there, that's why I was inquiring about overclocking it. ;)
So... any success stories? or recommended settings?... anyone? ...anyone?

Overclocking and tweaking my w3v boosted its scores by about 2000 (3dmark01_ and 500 (3dmark03) using the omega drivers. I don't take it to the extreme, because I do not want to fry my lappy. But I can tell you that overclocking definitely works if that's what you want to hear.

I've tried the Omega drivers too, it's ok, but it has problems after I restart after doing a clean up. I know you overclock with Omega, but is there a way to do a capability test? Like see what's the max that it can do? That's how my friend fried his with the ATI Tool- running a capability test for like 15mins. But it could be just his "user error".
Well the video card on your W3 is the same as the Z70V, right? What was your max setting that you used that was still stable?

I had tried overclocking the x600 recently acutally and had put the core at 470 and mem 300 and it didnt seem to work. Did geared2play say he got 471/315? Odd... am i reading that right is 471 core and mem respectively? I used atitool. I did 3dmark03 again at stock and my 3dmark score had droped 300 points. (3200-2900) sux... but i still ended up getting the same fps on bf2 so it wasnt such a big deal but i dont know if ill see any furhter reprocusions. Any advice for overclocking or just tweaking the gfx card to get the most out of it?
