    Hey ppl,

I read on the forum that some of you'd managed to overclock your Asus G1Ss using the riva tuner tool...

The thing is, I've been trying to overclock mine for weeks now and have got no lucky AT ALL...

I'm really desperate... cause I wanna play Crysis and without a nice OC it would be near impossible... :(

Then, I wonder if any of you could help me, PLEASE.

I'd installed SEVERAL programs like ATItool 0.26, 0.27b, Ntune and Riva Tuner 2.03 (with the file RivaTuner203Drv modified for the vista x64 os) and most of them couldn't even find and/or recognize my geforce 8600m GT... but even the ones that did find it, do not alloawed me to change the settings of the vga board... cause everytime I changed it, the settings cameback to the default values as soon as I closed the programs!

Well, I'm running a Windows Vista Home Premium x64 OS and ForceWare 158.45 (by laptopvideo2go) in my Asus G1S, with default hardware settings although it's 4GB of Samsung DDR2 667, instead of the "original" 2gb that came along.

    Guess that's all...

ANY help would be VERY, VERY, VERY APPRECIATED!!!

    Thanks in advance! :)

I'm pretty sure the 169 drivers allow overclocking.

    Have you tried it, mate?

Cause I'd tried the 169.25 and still couldn't OC my note at the time... :(

I actually can overclock with all the drivers from the 169.xx serie.. (But i'm using vista 32bit)

I can give you a tip: try to install the 169.28 driver, if you get stuttering with vista aero (moving windows, selecting icons,... doesn't go smooth) than install the 167.49 driver (I'm on it now) this driver gives NO aero problems at all + you get very good performance ingame + normally you can overclock with it (i can)

The only minus of the 167.49 driver is that the card runs a little but hotter when idle (Same temperature as other drivers ingame)

    Bro,

The dl website for the 167.49 driver has been OFF for some days now... I wonder if you could please upload yours (if you still got it) into a hosting site like rapidshare or something... Cause I'd even tried to dl this driver from a korean site this morning but found out it was just a fake!

    Ty. ;)

Yes... just TRY to download the driver 167.49 for vista x64 and you'd see that the link ain't working at all! As I said before... Just in case, here's the url:

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16928

Anyway, if anyone have this driver ( 167.49 for Vista x64) and could please upload it to some hosting site, it'd be very nice!

    Thanks.

Or even, if you've got any ideas about how can I OC my geforce 8600m gt using a freakin' Vista x64 OS, that would be great as well!

    Cheers!!!

I really HATE the vista x64... but I refuse myself to buy an x86 version and spend lots of my precious $$$ only to overclock my videocard a little bit! (even cause I'm aware I cannot perform a serious overclock on it...)

Mate, has the file only 1 kb ( I said ONE kb) ???

Don't think so, right? Cause if you click on the link and start the download, that's the size of the file you're gonna dl.... I've tried over and over, and it's been always the same thing....

However, feel free to try it again, if you wish. ;)

Btw, even if I could dl this file (which I clearly can't)... I really don't think it's gonna work... and I ain't saying that only because of the Murphy's law (which would certainly be applied for my particular case)... I'm saying that mainly because: the Vista x64 OS is totally F... up!!

    Cheers.

I can't download the file either, so you're not alone on this issue. I keep getting a file of 0 bytes, though.

Actually, I figured out for myself that THERE IS NO WAY I can overclock my Asus G1S using a Windows Vista x64 OS...

Dunno anyone who have made it... and honestly I don't think it's even possible...

    :(

Sorry to hear that. Does the 32-bit version come with the 64-bit version? I thought they did, for some reason...

Nop... it's an OEM Vista Home Premium 64-bit version... and when it comes to Vista OEM versions... "What You See Is What You Get!" There's no option to choose between x86 and x64 versions as "regular" Windows Vista have... you must stick with what you've ordered (in my case, the x64 ver.) or die trying! :(
