    My system:

    - Asus F3jp
    - Windows XP Pro SP2 and all updates up to now.

Up to a certain point time, which I don't know, all new devices that I plugged into the USB slots installed and worked fine.

But now if I try to install a new USB memory sticky (Several different ones), USB hd's, software dongles or printers I get the following message in the 'Found New Hardware Wizard':

Any device that was installed before this problem still works, as long as you put them into the same USB ports that it used before this problem.

I tried to update the system drivers, but this did not help. I am not sure if this is a system device driver problem or if it is a windows problem.

It's driving me nuts, so I would be very grateful if someone could help.

    Thanks,

    crazyswede

Sounds like Windows is messed up bigtime.

A simple test would be to see if your USB keys are properly detected upon POST. It should have the model number and everything on the screen when it counts memory (need to press F2 to enter BIOS so that the POST screen is displayed). Or you could simply check for bootable devices in the BIOS.

You don't get a proper Windows XP disc, so I can't try a repair. :(

And if I do a full install I get all the rubbish on

I could try one of the Windows XP discs in the office and see if one of them excepts my windows key... This is a pain in the

Does anyone know of a different solution
