The replacement battery I bought for my W3V a year ago just died (10 min life) and I bought a W3J battery to replace it but... it doesn't work!

NHC detects it as an ASUS battery and everything, but when I disconnect the power adapter, the laptop shuts off. :(

EDIT: Sorry for double posting the thread, it was an accident

Forgot to ask, does anyone know how to make my W3V accept the W3J battery? There must be a program or something, has anyone gotten it to work? Thanks

Hey, I bought my battery from NCIX, they're based in Canada.

Yes the W3J battery is a darker grey, but personally, I don't think it looks too out of place on the W3V.

I don't think this problem can be fixed, since I believe the firmware on the battery is incompatible with the firmware on the computer...

You could try returning the battery and buying the correct one (taking into account the possibility that, because the model is olf, the battery has spent a long time sitting on the shelf, which would cause wear).

I did, but it hasn't lasted long. I think Vista is killing my batteries.

Hey thanks guys for your help. I guess I can't fix the problem... which is a real downer because I was planning to keep this W3V for awhile, it still runs fine and I just bought a new hard-drive for it to prolong the life :(

The reason I didn't buy an actual W3V was because I've already done that and since they've been sitting for so long, the battery doesn't last nearly as long. (the first one lasted a year, the second one lasted a year as well).

The problem is... since it was a special order, I can't return the W3J Battery at all to NCIX where I bought it a week ago.

So... if anyone's looking to buy a replacement/extra W3J battery, let me know! I'm in Vancouver, Canada. Bought the battery for $177 CAD = $142 USD, it's in brand new condition, never used (obviously) and I have receipts for time of purchase.. so I guess I'll sell it for $120 USD shipped if that's fair

    Thanks again,

I am referring to my W3V. Asus released Vista drivers for the W3J, but not for the W3V.
