I read alot thread about w3v palmrest discolouration and I found this
http://www.klearadvantage.com/
I was also considering using one of those screen protector but I'm afraid it will leave residue. This looks promising.

I'd rather have discolored palm rests than have a shiny piece of plastic on each palm rest.
-
I Would rather have shiny plastic than a discolored palm rest. But only if its easily removable.

I rather have a mirror finish on my palm rest then a shiny clear coat or rusty palm rests
-
I'd rather have a brushed aluminum palmrest than any of the above. Now who can make that happen?

how about a palm rest dipped in chrome? eh? Eddie like!!! Or is that to tacky?
-
a little too bling bling for me...but it would look nice with the ring around the trackpad/button.
I wouldn't think that would be too hard to make - little niche product there for someone. -
The klrear advantage screen seems too tacky and expensive but those who are complaining about the discolouration, it might be worth it.
Also, how about this?

The removable PVC leather will provide some comfort and protection from discolouration. All you need is finding a color that would match the Asus laptop. -
still no answer for me but great to see some brainstorming going on. How about removing the palm rest and painting it in metalic car paint that matches the W3V color
Is the W3J going to have the same problem??? easiest would be to change for the new palm rest directly from asus
I know eddie posted this elsewhere but that mirror or vynil finish he suggests is just a contact paper or paint???? -
When you got your laptop, there were to stickers on the palmrest spot. I didn't take them off, so they're actually kinda protecting my palmrests, though I haven't got the W-series...

urrutiaale,
The slip is made of PVC leather so I imagine if can find one with darker color and cut it to your liking. The only thing I'm not certain is what kind of adhesive they used so it wont leave any residue when you remove it. -
I think this is just a temporary solution... I mean, who can having those big ugly sticker on the whole time!! :/
I was thinking of using some sort of clear-coat on it, but not sure which one will be comfortable to rest on and not affect the look too much... maybe I'll talk to a professional painter or something.... god this is pretty sad all for a palmrest
PS: Does anyone have any pictures of their palmrest fading?? Thanks -
It looks like macs are having similar issues with some of their macbooks.

I wonder if it's the same issues afflicting asus (and perhaps other manufacturer's laptops). The suggestion given was to try NON acetone based nail polish remover. There are problems (potential warranty issues?) with using solvents to clean plastics however (like the plastic melting for example, especially if you use an acetone based nail polish) so you're definitely taking a chance with your precious laptop when you try this solution... -
