I have a strange issue. I have put up with it for a while, with some workarounds I discovered, but there must be a reason it is doing it!

My laptop is Asus F3J series with Vista Business.

Anyway, when I start up, there is a section of the screen that is not clickable. The mouse moves around the whole screen, but in this same section everytime, no clicks are registered ... can not click on buttons, shortcuts, etc.

I can get this part working again by switching user and logging back in, or opening the Splendid Video Enhancement tool and changing that setting.

This tells me the problem has something to do with that tool, but I don't know how to fix it.

Does anybody have any ideas? Has this ever happened before?

It is only a small rectangular area that starts in the centre and goes towards the right of the screen.

But it is weird how if I click on Switch User or simply change the Splendid Colour setting, the problem disappears. There must be a box that is open in that appear, but can't be seen :(

Try using the FN+Fkey combination to dim the screen or change the volume.

Thanks. I actually just contact Asus, and they emailed me a link immediately, so obviously the know about the problem. It unistalled atkosd2, and that seems to have fixed the problem.

Seems like all it did was make flashier pictures on the screen when changing the power, video and sound settings.

Yes, that's what ATKOSD2 does, and I was almost sure it was the problem when I read the title of the thread. :D

You could try reinstalling, or try a different (even older) version, if there is one for your model, to recover the animations. But otherwise, it doesn't really harm to run without it.

I tried to reinstall and the problem came back ... so uninstalled again. I don't see any harm to run without it, so see how it goes.

    Thanks

I had that problem a while ago, but I reformated my laptop a month or two ago and installed it right away and haven't had that issue again.
