How much is that A8Jm going to cost? That graphics card is awsome!!! I have no idea why I didn't get an Asus. They are just so much better. I want one.

    OMG Get in there W3J!

I'm trying to decided between the Macbook Pro and the W3J. The final decider comes down to heat output.

    Thanks CS - great post.

Strange though - 1.66Ghz proc. and 512MB RAM per the benchmark screens.

That will be changed later, the unit I tested is just a demo unit for North America. It doesn't have even the seriel number on it, Asus only put a tape on the bottom and wrote down W3J like this :)

I saw GF7600 score in 3dm05 and it was about 34xx vs almost 3900 in X1600.

it's a toss up for me now between the a8j and the w3j if they are both offered in the US. i guess i'm more leaning towards the a8j cause of the nvidia card (assuming it has comparable performance to the x1600), which is more linux friendly.

finally a good graphics card in a 14" laptop that is linux friendly. the w3j looks to be more asthetically pleasing, but personally for me, looks don't matter as much, as long as this thing rocks linux.

    i hear ya.
i was wondering when someone would release a 7600go in a 14" platform..
i mean if ati could do it with the x1400 why couldnt nvidia do it with the go7600?

cannot wait till this thing comes out...
especially since it has a glossy widescreen WXGA+

the only thing that would sour this, is if the price was above $1500 for the A8Jm

Nice shots Danny..... That demo you have, you should note... is just a swapped motherboard and NOT a final production model.. Those benchmark numbers are decent, but they should vary from the final production models...... Also, the touchpad is most likely going to change and I'm fairly certain what you've see is the stock W3v palmrest and therefore touchpad..... I like the masking tape saying "w3j sku" on it...... all the demos usually come with something like that.

To the question about the S6...... yes, it's also going to come without leather........ but one of those leather models could make it to the US. The biggest problem is that Asus wants to make a monthly thing of out them and they'll produce them all at once, but release one version one month, and then another the next and so on....... So right now, I think the US can really only support one version of it...... so, either they bring in like 20 of each version, month to month... and just see how they sell....... or people wanting the leather versions better start making it know which one you'd like.... there are at least 4-5 versions that I know of (the leather is totally different, but as far as colors - there are brown cowhide, pink croc, white crox, grey cowhide... at least) However a plain charcoal and plain pearl should also be available.... most likely the charcoal one will be coming to the US.

any ETA or SRP on those s6's yet Justin? that thing is just what I'm lookin for but its just a bummer that the whole lack of PC card compatability could kill the idea of me getting an asus altogether.

Every spec of the A8 series I've seen has a WXGA(1280x800/768) screen. A WXGA+(1440x900) screen would be sweet though!
