Okay, so I got my C90s for going away to school. It had the maximum number of features for its price and I feel that I made a good decision in purchasing it. However, like most students, I quickly found my bank account drained by the cost of schooling...

But thanks to a miscalculation on my part it looks like I'll have quite a bit of extra money in the bank by the end of this term thanks to an extra week of pay I forgot to calculate in and a bonus from my company for getting really good grades in school. So my question to you guys is - What should I do to pimp out my C90s?

I have the E6420 (2.13ghz) and I heard that this processor overclocks easily and I was wondering if it would be easy to do a permanent overclock (not using turbogear) to bump it up a bit or maybe some simple fans or something I could add-on to aid in this.

I have 2 gigs of DDR-667 Ram and I was also wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to 3 or 4 gigs

I also have the 8600M GT 521mb but was looking at the upgrade to the 256mb GDDR3 gpu. WOuld this be worthwhile.

I was also looking at maybe some design mods to the laptop. Any suggestions/experience in this area would be appreciated.

So yeah I guess I'm just looking for feedback here on some common C90s upgrades then but I'd also still like to get the most bang for my buck. The OCing should be free unless i need fans, I just don't know if I could (should?) do it. I would like to hear from others about the ram and gpu upgrades though. And any otehr suggestions you have for upgrading my C90s would be appreciated.

    1. You can unlock the multiplier with physical modifications I think, but it is not recommended.

    2. 3GB is its max, no need except if you do things like HD video encoding

    3. If you feel like you need more, only if you can resell your 512MB at a good price IMO.

dont know about permanent overclock but turbogear will overclock it 20% meaninging : 2.56ghz and 1279mhz bus

the c90 won't be able to do 4gb of ram but i personally think getting that 3rd gb would be a good idea because vista already needs 2gb to run good and smooth, meaning soon everything will need more

its not worth it to upgrade the video card because its roughly $200 upgrade when if you just wait, for $200 you can a much better card because, yes the 256gddr3 will be better but when the 9000 series comes out, it will be much better than the 8600gt in general

Hm...while the 9000 series would be a nice improvement, how long until they come out? And mroe importantly, how long until the GPU is released for use in the C90s?

Also, I looked at the modding thread for the C90s and I didn't notice too many visual mods. I was thinking of putting a porsche badge in the center of the top cover (to fight the lamborghini and ferrari laptops of course :) ) or maybe do some kind of a lighting mod out the sides that I could turn on and off. Has anyone done such a thing or would I be one of the first?

it dependso n when they are released. The 9600 might either come in november or in march, allow 4 months for mobile cards.
