Hi, I'm new to the forums. I just recently purchased an Asus g1. It's pretty, but whatever the case...

I'm having issues playing Diablo II. Not that I couldn't get it to the work. It's an issue with Scaled Aspect Ratio, or whatever you want to call it. Diablo II only runs in 800x600, but the images are stretched across 1680x1050 resolution.

What can I do about this? Please, I've looked for a solution everywhere in the pass 24 hours. I'm really frustrated.

How best to optimize my video card? (Drivers?)

Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

Edit: Besides the aspect ratio, anyone else play Diablo II on vista?

Diablo 2 only runs in 800x600 max. The way to get it to not scale is to play with the video driver. Somewhere in the driver settings, you should be able to tell the driver how to treat stretching. On my W3J in the CCC, the settings are something along the lines of: Keep aspect ratio (stretches, but not to full screen), Don't Stretch at all, or Stretch to full screen (ignore aspect ratio).

You could always play the game in a window too.

yea, playing it in windowed mode is a good option.

i think you just go to the shortcut, and put -w at the end of the target location.

The big problem is that there is no 'keep aspect ratio' or anything of that sort in the driver settings.

Thanks, but maybe they're somewhere else...

if someone would kindly direct me to these options, I'd be most grateful as there is nothing like that in my nvidia control panel, or "personalize".

I could, however, it is really small on a 1680x1050 and it would be nice to have the monitor set to the correct resolution and aspect ratio (no stretching).

(this is the xp drivers, but I assume vista is similiar) Once you're in the driver settings dialog, click "digital flat panel settings" from the menu on the left, and then select "Fixed aspect ratio scaling." That's the best you're going to get with that game on that monitor.

3D performance in Vista is pretty disappointing right now, does anyone know when vista will be showing it's full potential? by SP1?
