So my computer started acting funny yesterday, and then i went for a restart and it was obvious my RAID 0 array had crashed. To easy, its a risk that i took and i knew i was prepared to handle. Pop in the recovery disk, easy enough....I guess not because i CANNOT re-install windows on the new Raid 0 array. I successfully installed Windows with the recovery disc after disabling RAID in the BIOS... To my dismay the only HDD present was the HDD that windows was installed on. When i go to Install windows on the Raid array i use option 3, which is what i originally used after reinstalling when i first got the laptop..i will include a picture of the error message i get while trying to install. It will be going through the install and around 20% it will fail..This message is in giant red letters that take up the whole screen that says 'ERROR' and in the top left it says 'ERROR:C [err= 2]'

So is the problem that you don't see the second HDD?

Or that you can't install Windows in RAID0 mode?

If the first, then you could try the following:

    - Go to BIOS
    - Reset BIOS to User Defaults (not manufacturer)
    - Reboot
    - Do the above one more time

    (I hope I remember correctly)
This used to fix some 2nd-HDD related issues in the G50, but not sure that it will address your exact issue.

That giant red ERROR happens when the asus recovery program can't read its data. I've never tried a recovery with RAID so I can't say if it works or not, I've always done a clean install from retail media. You might try making a custom installer disc if all you have is the recovery media.

So i successfully installed vista 64 on a RAID 1 array, maybe not a hardware issue after all, over.
