If this is possible at all, as the TV is probably older than my grandmother, but it would be awesome if it works as it's (I think) a 37" screen.
I took a screenshot of what the TV connection options look like:

I hope it's possible.

I don't think it is. You do not have a svideo out on your laptop so I think your out of luck.
-
ugh, thanks.
-
Yes you can connect your G50 to your TV. You'll need either a VGA to S-Viideo adapter or an HDMI to S-video adapter. They can be purchased pretty cheaply on ebay for about $3-$4.
-
wow thanks david.
you rock -
Does it produce the same output quality? -
probably not cuz HDMI is definitely better. but its still good I'll probably be sitting meters away from the TV, unlike the lappy.
-
Do you mean that HDMI to S-video is better than VGA to s-video?
Or you mean the quality of the laptop is better than the TV quality? -
The resolution on the laptop is good, but that is because it's good relatively to the small screen, now this resolution must be stretched to fit the TV.
sure TVs don't have good resolution in the first place, but this will be one more reason why the quality will be less.
the main reason is the conversion, HDMI > S video.
but i am really unsure about what David said, cuz I think HDMI is digital and s-vid is analog, is conversion possible?
EDIT: i was wrong, I mistakenly thought were talking about hdmi to vga, hdmi to s-video is existent, and it works fine, but the quality is less because hdmi, as i said earlier, has better quality.
EDIT2: google is confusing me, i really dont know what i am talking about, can someone clear this thing up? -
I searched on ebay and only could find convertor boxes
I am also getting confused :s
any one can give us some input on this?
Is it possible to connect hdmi to svideo by using cheap cables or adapters?
If this is possible can some one show me the link of the item at ebay? I searched but did not find anything -
I think you might wanna clean it before use. =P

I'm not sure about the adapters being discussed although I doubt that you'll like the picture of the laptop on the TV. Here is my reasoning:
With only those inputs available and the fact that the TV is older than your grandmother, this leads me to believe that the TV is NOT a high definition TV. If this is true, then the TV has a maximum resolution of 720x540 (normally 640 x 480 is used). This is WAY lower than the resolution of the laptop and it will look like cr*p.
For a test, try setting the resolution to 720x540 on the laptop and see how it looks. Now imagine stretching this image to fit a 37" TV because that is basically what will occur.
If the TV was a high definition TV, it would have at least component connections.
Personally I wouldn't waste the $3 on the adapter. -
My old laptop had an s-video output, and I don't think that the larger screen is worth the drop in quality. The resolution was so low that I couldn't read any text on the television clearly so I had to use the laptop's screen to set up a game anyway, and then it was hard to find a resolution that wouldn't clip the edges of the picture.
15.4 inches (or whatever size you have) isn't that bad if you're holding it in your lap anyway! It'll look a lot better, too. I just did some quick googling and the few adapters that I could find would work with an even fewer number of video chipsets. -
But I want to know whether the cheap cables will work?
Or do I need to buy convertor box?
Thanks
Please help me connect my G50 to my TV
