Hi
I have a little problem with my Asus UL30V laptop and after trying many things I have decided to turn to other people that may have an answer for this.
Two days ago I was watching a movie on my laptop while it was plugged in and the battery was attached... Prior to this I had no problems with the battery as I had used it few hours before.
Anyways as I wanted to move my laptop off my lap I accidentally pressed the power button which shut the laptop off while the movie was running.
When I turned the power back on I decided to unplug the laptop but it just shut off again. The battery has not been working since. I tried removing it, restarting my laptop but nothing worked.
When the battery is inside I get the power indicator stating that the power is at 100% and if I go into the settings it shows that the battery is healthy however it isnt powering up my laptop.
The battery light by the touch pad blinks red than green when its plugged in but no light when the power is unplugged.
I read somewhere that the computer might not be recognizing the battery and that I should default the CMOS or BIOS for it to recognize it again but I do not know how to do this.
Any help is appreciated.

1arko23, you came to the rigtht forum! If you want to reset the BIOS hit F2 a few time after powering on the machine while connected to AC power. Once in the BIOS you should see an option something like "reset to default". If this does not fix it, you can remove the battery, remove the AC cable, and hold down the power button for approx 20 seconds. The put back the battery and AC and test.
I am not sure about your model , but mine has a button on the bottom that can be pushed to reset the machine.
Very good advise from Naton about calibration, my ASUS does not have the option in BIOS, if you do not have it either you can turn off all power saving features of windows, let the battery drain completely. Then plug it in and full charge it with the computer turned off.
PS, I asked a moderator to move this thread to another loaction
Hope one of these fixes it, Josea -
how old is your laptop and how often did you use your battery?
Batteries can be charged and discharged between roughly 300 and 500 times. If you're laptop is between 1 to 2 years old and you have used the battery a lot it could be that the battery is dead and require replacement.
Also, batteries require calibration to operate properly. The calibration process consists on charging the battery to 100%, and then use it until it's flat. In some laptops there is an option inside the BIOS for the calibration. Access your BIOS and see if you have this option. In most laptops the BIOS can be accessed by pressing F2 at the BOOT (samsung logo) screen. -
Thanks for the replies. I tried all of these options and still no luck in getting the battery to work. I also noticed that my pointer keeps pausing and does not move smoothly when the battery is attached to the laptop. Once I take it out the pointer works perfectly.
Now the light turned from red and green to just flashing red.
Any other ideas or should I look to buy another battery.
Thanks
