Well, I want to give a review on this computer, but it's been a little bit troublesome so far.
I woke up this morning only to boot up my computer and find that the volume could not be adjusted. Very strange. I took this as a fluke and restarted. Now the volume works, but I get a non-stop crackling noise from the top right corner, right near the on/off button. The noise gets louder when the computer is performing tasks. I don't remember this noise being there last night and it's bugging me. Does anyone else have this? If you put your ear to the top right side you can hear crackling (I can). Please let me know if this is something I should be getting checked out.
I'm kind of sad right now .Please help![]()

OK I HAVE FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM
In the volume control panel (master volume)
All the way to the right there are a few controls for things like Video, CD Player, Line In, Microphone.
If video is turned up, the higher it goes, the louder the noise will get from the speaker on the right. I would really appreciate it if someone could test this out on theirs to see whether or not it is happening for them.
Thanks,

Hey Eggy,
I just checked out the problem you're having. When I went into the volume control panel the video volume was actually muted. If I turn mine up all the way it does make a kind of hissing/crackling noise too. Not sure what this control is for but I haven't had any problems while having it muted (other than the widely discussed speaker problems) so maybe that's an option for you.

Basically... I think the W2 as a computer itself is unreal and worth the price of the system.......... then if you get some time to set up Media Center and hook up cable and a phone line and all that........ just that side of it is priceless...... hook your phone line up and when a call come in the caller id comes up on the screen! When you scroll through your normal cable tv channels the name of the show and all the info will come up.......... and the "tivo" function, honestly works as good as a real tivo does...... it's wicked.
1. The speakers are awesome
2. The screen is the perfect resolution for graphics work and the viewing angles and brightness are beautiful.....
I still love my W3 as a traveling performance system..... but the W2 is just unreal.... I wish I was a freshman in college again... it would totally take the place of my stereo, tv and desktop graphics system......... if it only had a fridge, we could honestly put $10,000 price tag on it and it would probably sell!
I must also say... anyone who said they didn't like the magnetic latch Asus started using last year on the W1...... and that's on the W5/W3/V6..... because they still needed to use two hands to open the system..... because the W2 is a bit heavier, one hand is certainly all you need. I don't think it's a big deal, but others might. Also, the way the profile of the W2 is designed, it actually looks thinner than the W1....... I had three people comment on that. -

Anyone with a W2v w/ Media Center - we're going to start a new thread with the pros and cons of the system...... make sure you set up media center first and get a good night of watching and recording tv on it before you comment about that side of it.....
Please help, I am having some problems with my W2!!!
