Boot into safe mode and see if you can perform a system restore back til yesterday when your laptop was still working properly.

Hmmm, if that doesn't work, try reinstall the touchpad driver in safe mode. Also check that your touchpad is enabled in your BIOS as well.
If that still doesn't work, you'll probably need to do a clean install of vista. Make sure you backup all your important data first and use your restore disk to reinstall Vista back to factory settings (remember to set your booting priority to your optical drive).

I'm having the same problem today with my wireless mouse on my Dell. Everything else works for me, just the mouse is not recognized. When I click that pop-up message that you showed, it says to place the device in another port (also doesn't recognize it), or to replace the device. Has anything solved your problem today?

Hey buddies, the so annoyin' problem showed up today....again. I started to think that I make a mistake while installing the OS, but this time I did it F9 way, and the lappy is absolutely loaded, incl. the bloatware that we all hate. However, I thought the problem will disappear but unfortunately still exist. I also, posted here at Asus Forums(Official website). Any cooperation, please!
Thank you! P.S. If you decide to look around for me, I'm at MSN Messenger: [email protected]

I'm sorry I forgot to mention...Do Not install the HotFix referred above! I know that Ken offered help which I do appreeaciated a lot but as per Asus people thank God I didn't installed that. They said it will mess up the system since that HotFix patch is responsible for absolutely different things. Anyway, thank you one more GenTechPC for enlighting my life!
