One of the key selling points of the W3 notebook, and some other Asus notebooks, is the SPDIF audio support. As a minidisc user, I am quite dependent on having an optical audio output. The 14.1" widescreen display is also the ideal size for a notebook for me. Graphics and processor speed aren't a huge concern for me as I do not do much, if any, gaming.
It'd be a shame if the W3 was only available with all the bells and whistles since that would drive up the cost of the notebook. Hopefully there will be a "barebones" version which allows the customer to modify the system to their needs.
The other notebook I am considering is the Acer Aspire 1690 (http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/as1690.htm) which starts around $1650USD, so hopefully the W3 will be competitively priced. I understand that Asus creates a quality product, which in turn costs a little more money; however, I'd like to see the W3 available with fewer features while maintaining the sleek design and quality finish. If I could get my hands on a W3N, it'd be great since I'm not too keen about the new Sonoma platform.
Anyway, that's my feedback on the W3. I'm crossing my fingers with all the others that the W3 will be available in an affordable configuration.

It will be, but it will be made of a different material..... not brushed aluminum. This will be avaialble about a month after the W3 comes to the states.
