I called Screentek and they mentioned this to me, that it is a much cheaper alternative to buying a new LCD for $550. What they do is, take off the coat on my current LCD and re-coat it, meaning taking away all the scratches, because that material scratched will be replaced. It is only $100USD and you pay shipping both ways obviously $30 or so each way (DHL 2-3 days each way), with 24 hr turnaround time. In one day, out the next or even same day.
THoughts? Anyone heard of it? Done it? They said, that the failure rate is very low, and if something goes wrong, they replace the LCD at their cost.

And why did this need a WHOLE NEW thread instead of pluggin it into one of your other ones about the exact same topic?

He says the % of something going wrong during the process is very slim, almost never happens. I would imagine they know what they are doing, since they dont wanna be running up the company bill paying for all these new lcds. A lot of their customers do it when they want to upgrade their LCD (matte to glossy etc)
Heres a good read on how they do this

Someone actually did a review on this site about it. Taking a matte screen and adding the coating. They did a great job and it came out perfect. if it makes you feel better go ahead and get it done good luck.

Might be a good option for you if the scratch isn't that deep. Realize there is a risk though of other damage just from shipping the notebook back and forth, as well as them pulling the thing apart. Add to that the week+ of not having your machine...

So if you don't like aimless posts by people, don't contribute to it. More importantly, if you disagree with someone's opinion keep it at that level, don't go attacking people's character. -
I was thinking about having that done for my z70va LCD but i'm afraid that the notebook may get damage while it's being transfer from one place to another =(

Why do you keep asking other people if something is worth it? You need to make choices on your own. I understand you asking peoples opinions but it seems you are trying to justify the way you think by really taking other peoples words if its worth it. Not trying to be rude. Only you can know if something is worth it.

I think polarizing the screen is a great and reasonably priced solution. I am interesting about doing that myself.
-
If you get it done, please be sure to post a review of the quality of the service. Seems like a good alternative.
ps...sexybeast...you seem to be much more rational in this thread...props to you for getting past your scratch and working towards a solution...Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
will do eslayer, im in the process of still finding out the manu. part no. of my lcd and getting it to screen tek to find out if they can even order this thing, in case something goes wrong so they can replace it. or at least find ones that are compatible.
I hope they do, or else im screwed and wont be able to get it done. If that is the case, it might change my mind once again about whether or not to sell it. -
lol, you lose at life masterq, err I mean sexybeast. I laugh at your stupidity.
