Its pretty straightfoward especially using the built in flasher thats you can get through via the bios. Just make sure the notebook wont turn off during (ie: have it plugged in).
Also, like what gets said alot. Don't update the bios if you don't need to.

well i just bought a z96j and it has the grain issue. i read that flashing the bios to 1201 would fix the problem. but i also heard that if bios update fails, the computer wont work anymore...

    I've never had a problem. I've updated my M6Ne from 0204 -> 0205 -> 0206 -> 0207 -> 0208... then back to 0206. Problem free so far.

I love Asus' BIOS flashing. It's a breeze via BIOS and doesn't require any crazy tricks to work.

They are also fairly good at releasing new updates every now and then... been waiting for G1s 205 forever though.

Very misleading organization of this thread :)

    Arrgh, same here!

PS I own V1Jp, and before attempting to flash my bios to a newer version, that would rename my model from V1J to an exact one, it automatically checked whether I tried to use BIOS version designed to my very model, and guess what..? => they call it 'vicious circle', don't they?

The use of 'winflash /force' clause was necessary.
    (details here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=94114&page=17)

Thankfully one of this forums member addressed that issue (see link above) so I don't count it as I 'ever had problem updating my ASUS BIOS'.

actually ASUS bios update is very easy and convenient.... and, as an added security, i think the ASUS update program verifies that u download directly from their website. ( hence, less mistakes . )

If one is careful about uninterrupted power while flashing, nothing will happen.

No problem with updating my A8Jp from 204 to 208 and to 209 BIOS. Hope nothing ever happens while flashing but there is always a remote possibility of failure.

I have a feeling that 6 out of the 7 "No" votes were actually meant to be yes. I think a moderator should fix this or the thread will give a bad (and incorrect) impression about the reliability of the ASUS bios update procedure.

Question : Ever had problem updating your ASUS BIOS? (No)
May have thought that poll question is : Ever had problem updating your ASUS BIOS (No)

Ends up -> Poll : Was your Bios Update successful?(No)

There were a few replies that this thread might be misleading, and i know why after looking at the topic heading. When i voted i only looked at the poll question and put Yes.

I've flashed my Z71v BIOS from 0206 (stock) to 0208 to 0210 to 0212 with no problems for any of them.
