    hi,
I haven't set up a proper poll thingy to this thread because I don't know all the Asus models that are out there.

Anyway, I have ordered myself an Asus M9V yesterday and today I have come here and have been seeing a lot of threads for hte W3V and V6Va - which were also my top choices before I decided on the M9V.

I know M9V isn't top of the range, but I got it mainly for the screen. I mean, I like widescreen (it looks nice), but I figured that for my purposes it wouldn't do so well - not like I'm gonna watch DVDs on it all day long or use spreadsheets!

The battery life is crap, sadly, but I figured I might get an extra battery instead.

    Anyway, enough blabbering...

For everybody who has bought an Asus in recent months, which model did you get?

I am asking this q, coz I see so many threads on diff models, but I dunno which one is good or not. I guess for me, it's useless coz I have already ordered one, but maybe for others it might be helpful. :)

Just tell us what model you own.... or you wish to own...

    For me:
    M9V, W3V, V6Va.
Main Reasons: Lightweight, & good size.

z70va without a doubt was the best seller out of their entire line up right up there with the z63a and the z71v in its prime. ensemble notebooks are popular but the whitebooks outnumber them by a vast majority....w3v would be the most popular out of ensembles

In terms of popularity, probrably the W3v or V6v/a

In terms of being 'sold', Z70va and Z63a are definite.

The M6 series (Z70)... as I've said before has sold a good 4x times more than any other model they've ever brought in.......... they've been selling since November of 2003........... so they do have a longevity thing going... but in reality they continue to sell much better just because it's slightly above middle of the line. Not middle of the line in terms of quality or performance maybe... but weight, features, performance verses cost. I think it's been an over valued system and they could have sold a few less for a bit more... but it is what it is.

.. in terms of popularity.... the W2 / V6 / W5 have won all the awards and really are what seperates Asus from other companies... so that's what's out there to attract people to Asus. Not saying everyone has them or the other systems suck......... but there isn't one person in this forum who wouldn't love the W2 or V6 if they could have it configured exactly how they wanted and they had the money to buy it.

... so honestly.. eventhough these threads come along every few months... it's sort of a waste of time because you can see just by looking in the forum at a weeks worth of threads and how many views certain threads have at which notebooks people either own or are planning on getting.......... I can say that for 2005 - the W3v was easily the most bought and sought after..... The Z70va ramped up sales for that model line for the last quarter, but didn't have the overall appeal the W3 has with it's dedicated graphics and small form factor.

Yup. I'd say the Z70 Series also. I think that one reached cult status at one point and eventually started all this Asus hoopla. Now it's like one of the most frequented forum. :D

The Z71v had a huge popularity status at one point for about 2-3 months... HUGE... but then the Z70Va changed that.

Z81SP is the most popular Asus laptop ever made due to it's lightweight design and cool operating temperatures.

First off if someone takes that statement serious then they are stupid for not doing alittle research. To the rest of the people who know what a Z81SP is would chuckle alittle since it is totally oposite of what I said and could possibly be the worst selling Asus ever.

Justin, you know that Melbourne is on both sides of the intercostal right? Which side do you mean?

I make a not so funny joke and I get hung out to dry like that? I read people flaming and trolling and never get a response. Gotta love the fairness in that.

Well, thanks for iming me and thinking I was making fun of you.... I think your comment about the Z81 lightened up the post and it was an obvious joke (although I bet someone will buy it and think it's supposed to be exactly what you said).... but it's a semi pointless thread as I pointed out the other day, so you brought in some humor.... try to read it again....

And... yeah, Melbourne Beach... spent some time down there a few years ago, right off route 1.... that's the life down there....

You may be sarcastic by nature (like me sometimes)... but just because you were being sarcastic, doesn't mean I was.... I was being sincere... take it as a compliment... :)

I wasn't trying to ruin your fun... I love humour.
But if you added maybe some sort of smiley face to it... it would've been more obvious it was a joke to someone who doesn't know what the Z81SP is.
