    Hi,

I am thinking of upgrading my current Vista 64 bit OS to Win 7 64 bit.
I can't wipe my hard drive and then install Win 7, because I only bought the Upgrade version of Win7. Plus, I'd like to keep all of my documents and files plus the utilities that came with the PC, such as Power4Gear, Splendid, etc. I would especially like to keep Direct Console, since playing Modern Warfare 2 with a 2.26Ghz dual core does not cut it very well with maxed out settings.
Will Direct Console 2 work correctly after upgrading to Win 7 (or any of the other utilities for that matter)?

I googled this, and found a couple posts in another forum, but they were all talking about installing the drivers after a fresh OS install. This does not apply to me, since I bought the Upgrade version of Win 7.

Also, I have used Win 7 upgrade advisor, and no conflicts showed up except for one piece of software, WindowBlinds 6.

You CAN do a clean install with the upgrade version of win7, this is a WAY TOO COMMON Misconception.

Oh, so I could install win7 on a separate partition, use that for daily tasks, and go to vista for gaming? And this would not affect anything on Vista's partition, right? (may sound like a stupid question, but just for sure...)

    Thanks!

Why not just upgrade (not clean install) straight to 7, seems like a hassle switching back and your files will still be intact but still a good idea to back up. WB6 is compatible with 7 according to Stardock's site. The Win 7 compatible version of Direct Console should be around the Asus section somewhere.

I did not want to do that, because of possible driver issues.
But now that I think about it, upgrading might not cause many driver issues at all.

FYI, win 7 is better for gaming than vista. There's a thread floating around somewhere on the forums if you want more info.

I upgraded to Win7 Home Premium a few hours ago.
Against my expectations, there were no driver conflicts at all, all the ASUS utilities worked fine.
